What We'll Cover

Practical, implementable strategies you can use in your practice the very next day.

1
The math nobody runs β€” a fully utilized CrVT delegation model adds 25–40% DVM capacity without a single new hire
2
AABP and AAEVT's new utilization guidelines β€” the legal scope ceiling vs the cultural ceiling, and which one is actually holding you back
3
The under-utilization audit β€” what your techs are doing today that they shouldn't be, and what they aren't doing that they should
4
Wage compression, title protection, and the NAVTA push to make "veterinary nurse" a protected term β€” what owners should be doing now
5
Building the career ladder β€” VTS specialty pathways, internal certification stipends, and retention through promotion instead of pay raise
About This Session

Unlock the team you already have β€” before hiring more

Join the Veterinary Business Institute for a workforce panel designed for practice owners and leaders looking to unlock the full scope and capacity of their existing credentialed team β€” before reaching for another DVM hire.

With staffing shortages and wage pressure squeezing margins, the biggest untapped capacity in most practices is the team already on payroll. We'll unpack the math of credentialed-technician utilization, the legal-scope vs cultural-scope ceiling, the under-utilization audit, title protection, and building career ladders that retain talent through promotion instead of pay raises.

This Panel Is For You If...

  • You own, lead, or manage a veterinary practice
  • You're stuck in a "hire another DVM" loop you can't afford
  • Your techs are doing reception work, not clinical work
  • You're losing credentialed staff to pay-raise treadmills
  • You want a real career ladder, not just bigger paychecks

Brendan Baker
Brendan Baker
Founder & CEO Β· PawthosX Inc.
Brendan Baker is the Founder and CEO of PawthosX Inc., a veterinary technology company building "calm" operating systems for modern veterinary teams. Before founding PawthosX, he spent years inside veterinary hospitals across general practice, urgent care, and rehabilitation, where he saw firsthand how broken workflows and administrative burden strain teams long before "hire another doctor" becomes a realistic answer. His background includes more than a decade in emergency services as an EMS Supervisor and volunteer firefighter, shaping his approach to role clarity and calm execution under pressure. He brings an operator's perspective: technology should help team members work at the top of their license, reduce bottlenecks, and give clinics more capacity without burning out the people already carrying the load.
